Failure in Some MPC Nodes in HBW2 [Recovered]

We are currently experiencing some failures in the HOKUSAI BigWaterfall2 (HBW2) system.
HOKUSAI BigWaterfall2 (HBW2) system has recovered at 10:45 a.m. on May 2 from a partial failure.

There was a hardware failure on April 30 around 23:04 and 52 nodes (bwmpc261 – bwmpc312), part of MPC, are down.
Due to this, some jobs have been terminated.
In addition, the number of MPC nodes has been reduced, which may affect job starts.

HOKUSAI Maintenance Information at the end of FY2023

The Data Science Infrastructure HOKUSAI SailingShip (HSS)

HSS will continue to operate at the end of the fiscal year, but only the online submission system (hss-desk) will be stopped during the following period for the end-of-fiscal-year update.
HSS VMs, shared storage, OpenStack management console, etc. will not be stopped.

Service suspension period(hss-desk): March 29, 3:00 p.m. to April 2, 3:00 p.m.

After the service resumes, we will start accepting applications for new project use and point purchases for FY2024.

The Supercomputer HOKUSAI BigWaterfall2 (HBW2)

HBW2 will undergo maintenance at the end of the fiscal year according to the following schedule.

Service suspension period: March 28, 9:00 a.m. to April 2, 3:00 p.m.
*All jobs that have been submitted as of 9:00 a.m. on March 28 will be deleted.

After the service resumes, we will begin accepting new project applications and other applications for FY2024.

Information on HBW2 Trial Operation

The supercomputer HOKUSAI BigWaterfall2 (HBW2) has been in trial operation since December 4, 2023.
The trial runs until the end of March 2024, and the deadline for submitting new trial projects is 3:00 p.m. on March 21, 2024.

HBW2 is easy for RIKEN researchers to use and is available free of charge for small-scale use.
During the trial period, there are no usage fees and no obligation to submit usage reports.
Although the remaining trial operation period is short, we hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to use HBW2.
