[August 6, 2026] Emergency CPU Farm Maintenance of HSS

The HOKUSAI SailingShip (HSS) system will undergo emergency maintenance on the CPU farm (compute nodes).

SERVICE DATE AND TIME NOTICE CONTACT
Data Science Infrastructure HOKUSAI SailingShip(HSS) Thursday, Aug. 6, 12:00 – 14:30 JST
(Snapshot acquisition cannot be started from 12:00 PM on Wednesday, Aug. 5.)
Various services running on HSS (including R2DMS and RARS) will also be stopped.		 For VMs (instances) where simply stopping and restarting them would cause operational issues,
please stop the VMs before the service suspension and restart them themselves after the service resumes.
VMs that are running at the time of the service interruption will be shut down by the administration team and restarted when service resumes.
For VMs that were restarted by the administration team upon service resumption, please verify that they are operating normally.
In particular, if a VM using shared storage is behaving abnormally, please try restarting it once.		 HSS Contact

Maintenance Due to Partial Decommissioning of Shared Storage for HSS will be as follows.

Data Science Infrastructure HOKUSAI SailingShip(HSS) Tuesday, May 26, 11:00 – 197:00 JST
Various services running on HSS (including R2DMS and RARS) will also be stopped.		 For HSS, please stop VMs (instances) before the service is stopped. VMs running at the time of service suspension will be terminated.
Snapshot taking will be disabled from 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 9.
VMs will not start automatically after the service is restarted, so please start it by yourself.
Also, if shared storage or other operations are not working properly, please try rebooting the system once.		 HSS Contact

(May 1)Notice of Emergency Maintenance for HBW2[Completed]

We will perform emergency maintenance on the HBW2 front-end servers and compute
nodes today, May 1, from 12:00 to 15:00 JST.
The Emergency maintenance has been completed, and operations resumed on Friday, May 1 at 13:45 (JST).
Please note that the system will be unavailable during the maintenance period.

All login sessions active at the start of the maintenance will be disconnected.
Additionally, any jobs running at the start of maintenance will be forcibly terminated as part of the maintenance process.
Jobs that have been configured for re-execution (with the –requeue option) will be restarted after maintenance.
For all other jobs, please resubmit them after operations resume.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
